Behind the Muse-ic
Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:02AM The Team
Famous for Meats(FFM) is a team of interns that act as an autonomous ad agency within Fresh Produce. The FFM team consists of Andrew Osborn (designer), Kyle Jameson(account service/writer) and Tiffany Menke (designer). FFM worked with a variety of their own clients this summer, but one of their unique tasks was to concept, organize, promote and put on their own art show in the Ipso Gallery at Fresh Produce. The result was "Muse-ic: when MUSIC inspires ART."
Muse-ic is an art show like you have -- most likely -- never seen before. FFM comissioned eleven local artists to create a piece based on inspiration from local music. Each artist received four albums from local musicians (Dan Mahar, Hank Harris, We All Have Hooks for Hands and Welcome to the Cinema) and selected one track (sometimes two) to inspire their piece. While at the show, patrons will press play on a cassette player and wear a pair of headphones in order to listen to the song(s) that inspired the art. The FFM creates an interesting dynamic between the world of art and the world of music, while allowing patrons to climb inside the mind the artists to discover elements of their inspiration.
The Promotion
The idea behind the Muse-ic promotion is that this show will be an invasion of your senses. So what better way to portray said invasion, than by having aquatic creatures invade our building?

The Podcast
The Rock Garden Tour turned its Fresh Friday podcast over to the Famous for Meats crew to go behind the scenes of the Muse-ic art show. The podcast features interviews with the artists and bands involved with the show, as well as thoughts on the show from Andrew Osborn and Kyle Jameson.
